Access to information is easier today than it has ever been. The challenge for students is how to differentiate between reliable information and misinformation.
This series of five videos and accompanying worksheets walk students through some of the ways science can help us recognise misinformation and help to slow its spread.

The bundle begins with introductory questions that elicit student’s prior knowledge and prompt them to consider the role of media in their lives.

The videos incorporate:
  • Clear explanations of the reasons that misinformation spreads.
  • Personal examples as well as examples from the news, TV shows and movies.
  • Suggestions for helping to slow the spread of misinformation using scientific thinking.

The seven individual worksheets have:
  • Space to take notes from the videos.
  • Comprehension questions that build in complexity.
  • Answer keys for questions that are not specific to individual students.

For an example of the types of worksheets contained in this bundle, I recommend that you download my free resource on
Why We Share Misinformation.
The bundle then ends with a set of reflection questions that use a version of Harvard’s Project Zero thinking routine ‘Connect, extend, challenge’ to consolidate students’ overall understanding.
